The following conditions favour the growing of trees.
- Excellent growing conditions that support forestry including good and adequate amount of well distributed rainfall
- Uganda is regarded as one of the important centre of biodiversity:
- Forests can grow at cheap cost as labour is cheap. The cost of establishing 1 ha of forest is estimated at US$ 700.
- There is available land with good soils for plantation
- The forest in Uganda give good yields because of conducive climate
- The prices of forest products have been quite and are expected to remain so.
- Uganda is offering good tax and non-tax incentives in forest farming
- The Saw Log Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) provides a direct subsidy grant for private timber growers planting from 25 ha to 500 ha.
- The National Forestry Authority is reading available to give advice
- There is a good pool of forestry technical experts in the country
