Elephants
African elephants (Loxodonta africana) are the largest mammal in the world and remarkably adaptable. Elephants live in woodlands, forests, deserts and savannah, spread across 37 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Currently Africa has around 600,000 elephants and Botswana has the largest number of elephants totalling to 150,000.

Lions
African lions (Panthera leo) king of the sub-Saharan savanna and they are always admired by man for its beauty and strength for thousands of years. It’s one of the most exciting animals to see. Africa has only 39,000 lions. The 40% of lions are in Tanzania with total number of over 15,000

Leopards
African leopards (Panthera pardus) are more numerous than the African rhino in the Big 5 pantheon, but they are just as difficult to spot. Leopards use trees as observation platforms and for protection. Africa has over 700,000 leopards. Namibia and South Africa have the most number of leopards that is Namibia has over 14, 000 and South Africa has over 23,472 leopards

Rhinos
There are two species of rhino in Africa that is the Black rhino (Diceros bicornis) and the White rhino (Ceratotherium simum). There are now only about 4000 Black rhinos in Africa and the white rhino is more numerous numbering at over 17,000. There are 20,000 rhinos in South Africa which is home to more than 80% of Africa’s rhino population

Cape buffalo
Cape Buffalo are commonly found in protected wildlife areas that have plenty of water, throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Four sub-species of African Buffalo include; Forest Buffalo, West African Savanna Buffalo, Central African Savanna Buffalo and Southern Savanna Buffalo. The forest buffalo are smaller than those found in the savanna. There are currently 1 million Cape buffalo left in Africa. South and East Africa have the most number of the African Buffalo estimated to be over 500,000 Cape buffalos.
