Uganda has the largest number of living reptile and they are found in National Parks, Swamps, Lakes, Forests and Rivers.

Uganda has variety of reptiles which include;

- Green Tree Snake
- Mole Snake
- Forest Cobra
- Chameleons
- Graceful Chameleon
- Giant Chameleon
- Lizards
- Tortoises
- Nile crocodile
Purposes of reptile farming
Reptiles like crocodile are farmed to provide crocodile meat which is quite delicious and liked by the expatriate community. The crocodile skins are used to make bags, belts, shoes and other items. There are opportunities to export crocodile products but proper approvals must be obtained from the ministry and Uganda Wildlife Authority
Reptiles can also be kept for Ecotourism purposes with the aim of creating awareness of the importance of reptiles among the community. It is important to note that the community is responsible for conservation of reptiles for future generations. The reptile farms also provide employment to local communities.
