AREA-Uganda came into existence after realizing the negative trend of events that take place in the real estate agency market place. The market has been circulated by undisciplined practioneers thus branding the sector as an unscrupulous venture by some media, where uncontrolled prices of property and unreliable service delivery has been the day to day occurrence.
The Association of Real Estate Agents (AREA-Uganda) was created as an umbrella institution of real estate agency/brokerage companies, consultancy real estate firms, and real estate agency /brokerage professionals in Uganda and other organizations that have key interests in real estate agency/brokerage. AREA Uganda was created to stimulate cooperation in the business, strengthening professional qualifications and establishing codes of conduct and business standards.
AREA Uganda members benefit by getting training opportunities which promote professionalism and skills and student members get a chance to do internships with the member companies to enhance their performance skills . AREA also provides networking opportunities with other members in the sector to share experiences and challenges.
Individual members pay 100,000 UShs per year for membership, corporate members pay 300,000 UShs per year, Associate companies pay 150,000 UShs per year, and student members pay only 20,000 UShs per year.
AREA Uganda also engages in several trainings which include: Mortgage training, Valuation training, brokerage management training and Instructors training at the East Africa Regional Real Estate Training Centre (EARRETC) in Nairobi.
