Gadafi-National-Mosque

Location
Gaddafi National Mosque, completed in 2006, is located on Old Kampala Hill about 2km from Kampala City Centre. The Mosque is a gift to Uganda by the late Libyan President, Col. Muammar Gaddafi.
The mosque can sit over 12,000 worshippers and the Libyan government will foot its maintenance costs for at least 10 years from date of handover.

Significance of the mosque
This is a national mosque of Uganda which houses the headquarters of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. The Council takes care of all Islamic affairs in Uganda.The mosque is the most modern prestigious venerable monument of Islamic civilization in Uganda.

Other facilities
The mosque houses the residences and office of the Mufti of Uganda and has meeting and conference facilities.
