Uganda’s total land is 199, 810 sq km of which 123,120 sq km of land is suitable for agriculture. Of the total agricultural land, 57,120 sq km has been preserved for permanent r pastures.
Pastureland is locates in the North Eastern districts of Uganda where both the rain fall and human population are low. Pastureland is also found in the west and part of central where people have title to the land but the owners of the land are increasingly turning to mix farming. Poultry birds are raised over Uganda as they do not require a lot of land when compared to cattle goats and sheep.
In other areas of Uganda agro-pastoralism and mix farming systems are practiced. There are quite a number of fattening farms and thousands of dairy farms all over the country.
There are opportunities for investors to partner with the owners of pastureland as most pasture lands in Uganda is not effectively utilised.
