Location
Nakawa Market is located along the Jinja Highway within 4 kilometres from Kampala Town. Nakawa market is one of Kampala’s largest food markets in the Eastern part of the city. For decades, it has been an arrival point of fresh foods from Eastern Uganda and traders have grown its reputation into one of the main sources of Kampala’s food.

History of the Market
The market started with few traders and temporary infrastructure. Since , then the market has attracted an influx of traders who opt to do their business in the market. The numbers of  customers also  greatly increased  as Nakawa Market  is the only market in this part of the city.

Ownership of the Market
The market is currently under Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)  following a rift between rival groups who used to manage the market.
